Christmas in the PICU

Monday, December, 25th 2023 | Marry Bridge Day 5

Today was Christmas at Mary Bridge. Today from a medical standpoint we took a couple steps back. Overnight one of the RTs did not do a great job of staying on top of Richards therapies, so he develop plug in the upper lobe of his right lung.

They are stepping up his therapies to every 4 hours and adding the Vest. He seems to like it

This was the first Christmas Day that our immediate family has not been together. We have been close and discharged on Christmas Eve before but always together. We also missed, again, our extended family gathering for another year.

With that said we did the best we could. The family life people here at the Hospital came by a couple days ago and asked about our family and the ages and genders of our kids. Then the next day they dropped by two big presents by, one for each of the boys. We decided to let each of the boys open one present each. Sidney opened some more wooden train stuff and Richard got a big hotwheel play structure, dinosaur, a Teenage mutant turtle toy, and magna-doodle type toy. Very generous gifts!
