This week Sidney and I continued to maintain our routine so far: wake up, quick breakfast and get dressed, play at the big playground, check on the construction progress, play at the smaller playground, back to the camper where I start work and Sidney starts school work.
For Mother’s Day, Sidney and Kyle got me a Lego bouquet of flowers so Sidney helped build them on Monday and Tuesday.
On Thursday when we checked on the construction, a cement pumper truck was there (which Sidney quickly identified) and one of the construction workers came to talk to us, offered Sidney a donut, and offered to have Sidney watch the pumper set up closer. We were able to go behind the fence and stand with the cement pump truck driver as he was getting set up. A ready-mix cement truck was pulling in so we had to go back behind the fence and some of the workers came up to Sidney again and said, “Hey Sidney! These guys work their butts off all day and all they want to do is go home. Stay in school so you don’t have to do work like this and you can work from home!” I’m not sure Sidney totally understood as I’m sure he would love to operate some of the trucks and construction vehicles lol. They were very nice to him which was great.
Saturday after coming back from the EcoTarium we were invited to a movie night at the lodge to watch Planes: Fire & Rescue which we were just in time for. There were a few other families there but there were difficulties with the projector, then with the speakers and after about an hour, Sidney and I were the only ones left. We moved to the center of the room and low-and-behold we could actually hear! The movie was cute but there was one intense scene that Sidney was nervous about. He hasn’t watched many movies yet (I think we’re up to 7-8 total? And 3 of the 7-8 are Cars movies lol) so he has to talk it out to understand what’s going on and get reassurance it’s going to be OK. We watched Finding Nemo last week in our camper and when I asked him what he thought about it, he said, “that was the worst movie I’ve ever seen” I couldn’t believe it! But I guess there are some intense scenes so I get it.
Sunday we stayed around the campground after getting groceries. We played at the playground (of course) and played wiffleball with some other kids. Sidney made a friend a few campsites over so they were playing together. We finally played mini-golf and they have a gemstone mining area which was pretty cool too. Then we explored a trail at the back of the campground but it was getting too hot so we headed back to cool off. It’s been in the mid-70s but super humid which we’re not used to.
