Smith Rock State Park

Tuesday, June, 25th 2024 | Terrebonne, Oregon

We spent the day exploring Smith Rock State Park. They had a nice set of stroller-friendly trails (our stroller, not all would do well). We chose to go in the mid-morning to try and avoid the heat of the day. We did not get to go down in the valley but enjoyed hiking the rim.

Sidney found a gardiner snake outside of the restroom and was showing it off.

Around the Campground

We were blessed not only by the kids’ grandparents but we were also joined by mama’s college roommate and her family. The grandparents and the mama’s roommate are the only people from our life before we hit the road to meet up with us more than once. The boys get along with their kids and are one of the few couples that both click with mama and papa.

The kids enjoyed playing board games, riding their bikes, and best of all, swimming at the pool. There was also a local ‘pump track’ that Sidney really enjoyed riding his bike on.

Papa also loves cooking for the group and we hosted most meals. We had a nice shady Juniper tree next to our site which was greatly appreciated!

Tumalo Falls (USFS)

Thursday, June, 27th 2024 | Deschutes National Forest

Our friends joined us, or rather, we joined them for a hike to Tumalo Falls. We made it to the lower falls viewpoint. We pushed the stroller 3/4 of the way up to the upper falls, but the trail was just to rough and Richard was not having it.

Sidney went on with our friends while Richard, mama and papa returned to the trailhead.
