Review: Thousand Trails Seaside

Seaside, Oregon

Site 120 | 7/7 to 7/21/2024

We really enjoyed our stay at Thousand Trails Seaside in Seaside OR. The campground staff was very nice and there were lots of activities for the families at the Campground. It also has great access to both the beach and lots of historical landmarks and museums to explore within about a 30 min drive. Both Cannon and Seaside Beaches have good ADA options for Beach access 😀.

Our Site

  • Full Hookups
  • Right in front of the playfield, playground and clubhouse and near the pool.
  • Good internet on all 4 carriers we have (Verizon, T-Mobile, AT&T and Starlink)
  • Very narrow with limited area to set up the site
  • Entry is very narrow and could be tricky for big rigs (like us)
  • Next to North Clubhouse, Pool, Gameroom, playfield and playground. Close to ball

Campground – Pros

  • Good ‘clubhouse’ with kids’ room, restrooms and nice common room with lots of books and games for all ages. They even have morning complementary coffee at the Clubhouse
  • There are several outdoor activities for the kids. Two playgrounds and up in the north end they have volleyball, cornhole, gagaball and more.
  •  Basketball court, 1 tennis court, and 4 pickleball courts next to the pool house.
  • Very friendly Activity Coordinator/Manager (Heather) that is driven to have lots of fun activities for families.
  • The pool is indoors (open year-round) with an attached game room, hot tub and sauna, a little outdated and small but it does the job.

Campground –- Cons

  • Laundromat need more machines OR a 2nd laundromat in the North Section. With how far apart the north and south sections it is impractical to walk/bike back and forth to the laundromat if you are staying in the North Section. There is also not enough parking spaces. I would recommend adding another laundromat in the north section.
  • GaGa pit was only temporary
  • Lots of people speed on main road in front of the Clubhouse
  • Staff – a few of the Rangers were much less engaging and customer service oriented than I am used to at most of the other Thousand Trails we have stayed at. They are not bad, just do not seem to want to engage with guests/members/campers more than is necessary and do not want to take feedback on how to improve the campground.
  • They are very strict on the 12pm check-in time and could use some signage on the road telling people where to queue up for noon check-in.

Area Recreation/Fun (that we explored)

  • Cannon Beach
  • Seaside Beach
  • Fort Clatsop NPS (Replica Fort and Museum)
  • Fort Stevens State Park (Endicott period fortification with museum and early 1800s Fort)
  • Fort Columbia (Endicott period fortification)
  • Haystack Rock with Interpretive Programs at low tide

Local Shopping

  • Safeway
  • Walmart (next town over)
  • Fred Meyers (next town over)
  • Tractor Supply (next town over)
  • Costco (next town over)
  • Lots of Local gift, kite, surf and like shops
  • EZ Shipping (package received for $1 each)
