Review: Watchman Campground 2024

Site B034 | 12/15 to 12/24/2024 | Zion National Park, Utah

Our stay at Watchman Campground was a wonderful stay. The campground was well kept up with a great view of the canyon and Virgin River. There is endless hiking, natural history, geology, wildlife and a long history of humans visiting and living in the area. The older boys enjoyed a day hike to the Emerald Pools. There were more ADA/Accessibility options within the park than most for little brother.

Our Site (B034)

  • Very large with 30-amp power
  • Great views

Campground – Pros

  • Short walk to town and visitor center
  • Recent upgrades and modernization
  • Nice and clean restrooms with dish cleaning at each restroom
  • Dump and fill station nearby (we use wastewater and drinking water bladders in the truck bed to dump/fill our rig, so we do not need to move it while we are there)
  • Lots of wildlife

Campground – Cons

  • Only a couple of big-rig friendly sites
  • No Sewer or water at the sites
  • Some tight corners for bigger rigs but doable…
  • No showers at the restrooms

Area Recreation/Fun (that we explored)

  • Emerald Pools Trail
  • Kayenta Trail
  • Temple of Sinawava
  • Telephone Canyon (paved section)
  • Grafton Ghost Town
  • Red Cliffs National Conservation Area (with Dinosaurs Tracks)
  • Smithsonian Butte National Back Country Byway

Local Shopping

  • Davis Food and Drug (and Ace Hardware), Hurricane, UT

Dining (we enjoyed)

  • El Jinete Restaurant, Hurricane, UT
