Finding our new normal
Sidney and Katie have been settling in to the campground and figuring out our schedule and routine. Katie is still working Pacific time hours and tried out her usual schedule of four 10- hour shifts and taking Wednesdays off, but on Eastern time it ends up being 10am-9pm. Katie is more of a night owl any way so working that late is okay. She could change her hours to five 8-hour shifts if needed but she thinks the mid-week break is more valuable.
Monday was when we picked up Katie’s rental car and that afternoon Kyle and Richard went to the hospital. Sidney played with toys while Katie worked. Her “lunch break” is going to end up being our dinner break. The main challenge is Sidney cleaning up and getting ready for bed with minimal coaching. Monday night he did great, Tuesday not so great.
Wednesday we drove up to the hospital to spend some time with Kyle and Richard. There was a lot of traffic downtown but the years of driving in downtown Seattle for work helped. Honestly the worst part of the driving trip was other drivers not following traffic lights and poor street markings. There were some roads on which it was hard to tell if it was a two way road and how many lanes.
Thursday and Friday we were back to our routine- cuddling in the morning, breakfast, work and Sidney working on school. Getting to bed was also easier for Sidney.
Saturday, May 6
Saturday we stayed at the campground and enjoyed the fun activities the park offered.
We rode in a wagon ride with Boo-Boo, played 80s Bingo, enjoyed food from the food truck, played on the playground and walked around. Sidney also made some new friends with some kids from a nearby camper. The park definitely becomes more active in the weekends, not just in activities but with more campers too.
Sunday, May 7
We drove to the hospital again and it was like night and day driving on Sunday compared with Wednesday! So much faster and easier. When we got back home, we played at the playground and Sidney tried the giant jumping pillow for the first time- which he loved! That is now the first thing he wants to do on the playground, which is great because it burns a lot of energy.
