Yesterday they sent Richard to a x-ray to verify that the contrast from Thursday had worked its way out of the way for his CT. They did find some in the lower GI track. Last night Dan, our beside nurse, set our of a mission to make the boy poop and boy did we exceed!
Dr. Ben and the Esophageal Team stopped by and had a brainstorming session with dad. We are going to address the stricture and TEF in the OR later this month. The question is what to do with his GI track. We will talk more about that as we learn more.
The day ended on a high note for both papa and Richard. Richard had his IV removed from his right forearm so he now has use of both hands. The funny part is right after getting off his arm sleeve he put it back on himself. To top that off our friend form Child Life came back for a playmate this evening. Papa got a free massage in the Family Life Center this afternoon.
Richard also had visits from both PT and Speech Therapy today. He keeps really enjoying their visits and is using his new AAC more and more.
This morning we got another x-ray and we got the go-a-head for the CT. One of the interesting things about Boston, compared to Seattle is Seattle has an entire ‘transport team who takes inpatient kids from their room to all their imaging and other out of room activities. Here at Boston, when he is not on IV or oxygen, Papa just carries him from point A to point B.
Dad also did a little exploring today and found a history exhibit.
