8/25 to 9/15/2024 | Thousand Trails Crescent Bar | Quincy, WA
Travel Day
Sunday, August, 25th 2024
This was a short but beautiful drive. We left Thousand Trails Leavenworth at just after 10 am. We drove to Lake Wenatchee and took State Route 207 to US Highway 2, where we headed East to State Route 28 and headed south. At about noon we arrived at Thousand Trails Crescent Bar.
Rocky Reach Park & Interpretive Center
Wednesday, August, 28th 2024
We took a short dive up the Columbia River to the Rocky Reach Dam that had a highly rated park and Interpretive Center. We started out at the Interpretive Center next to the dam. It had a nice balance between information about the local ecosystem and Hydropower. One of the highlights was an interactive exhibit about the challenge of navigation on the river before the Dams. The boys also really enjoyed the fish ladder.
Quincy Lakes Wildlife Area
Monday, September, 3rd 2024
We look a drive out to the Quincy Lakes Wildlife Area and the “Ancient Lakes.” It was a beautiful area with lots of Primitive Camping options and great paddling. One of the hardest adjustments for papa bear with having a kiddo with mobility challenges is not being able to just jump out of the truck and go on a few mile hike.
Life around the Bar and Campground
We really enjoyed exploring Crescent Bar itself. We took several long walks up and down the bike trail while we were there. Mama really enjoyed all the bird activity and we even got to watch a pair of River Otters playing at sunset.
There were a few other full-time traveling RV families that Sidney made short time of making friends. The kids spent most of the day playing in the tennis court but never actually playing tennis.
Mama and Sidney have been getting into pickleball ever since they discovered it at Thousand Trails Seaside the month before.
Sidney also tried cutting his own hair for the first time.
