Review: Thousand Trails Leavenworth 2024

Site 237 | 8/11 to 8/25/2024

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Thousand Trails Leavenworth. It is located about 30 minutes north of Leavenworth, Washington. The campground is tucked back in the mountains not far from Lake Wenatchee State Park and lots of the great outdoors. We had some excitement with forest fires in the area, but DNR did a good job of getting them under control in short-order. We loved the campground and would love to return, but the internet access (cellular and Starlink) has very poor to no coverage, so good place to vacation, not really to work remotely.

NOTE: If you are pulling a big rig, access from the North byState Hwy 207 NOT via Chumstick Hwy like Google wants you to.

Our Site (237)

  • One of the few that had enough sky for Starlink
  • Close to restrooms
  • Nice view of the pond
  • Starlink friendly (if you have a long cable)
  • Okay Verizon coverage

Campground – Pros

  • Great access to Outdoor recreation of almost every kind
  • New water system with all the bells
  • Big Rig Friendly
  • Great Lodge
  • Kids Bike Trail
  • Large outdoor pool

Campground – Cons

  • There is some flooding in areas of the park
  • South side of the park has no cell coverage
  • Heavy tree cover limits satellite coverage (limited Starlink for sites on the ‘Alpine Trout Pond’ and site 237)
  • No Cell coverage on the South side of the park (main area)
  • Need to exit park after check-in to go access the North side of the park
  • Lots of wasps

Area Recreation/Fun (that we explored)

  • City of Leavenworth (great Bavarian themed tourist town)
  • Cashmere Museum and Pioneer Village
  • Aplets and Cotlets Candy Kitchen
  • Lake Wenatchee State Park

Local Shopping

  • Safeway in Leavenworth
  • Just Plain Grocery & Gas
  • Main Street in Leavenworth

Dining (we enjoyed)

  • Leavenworth Sausage Garten
  • Rusty’s Drive In (Cashmere, Wa)

  1. We’ve stayed here before in 2022, but over in the Timber View section. T-Mobile had no issues with coverage, but we only used it for cell phones, not for laptops. We loved the campground though! The walking paths are a lot of fun, and they had tons of activities too.
