Surgery moved up to today!

Hi all- Richard was originally scheduled for surgery Friday, but there was a cancelation Thursday so they are pushing up his surgery to Thursday morning! This is a much bigger surgery than we initially thought- they are fixing his fistula and doing a tracheopexy which basically separates the trachea and the esophagus by tacking a small part of the trachea to the spine. This will also hopefully prevent another fistula from forming. They are also going to “redo” his original surgical connection (stomach to esophagus) because it is narrowing there and they need to open it up for the fistula anyway. This could potentially be a long surgery and will require a night or two in the ICU (is what they’re saying, we’re thinking it could be longer based on his extubation history).Prayer requests: – easy surgery- no complications- easy extubation – quick recovery for Richard
